MATCH PLAY GUIDELINES

~   Please show respect all the Pichenotte boards in the house! DO NOT bang on the board with pucks
or do anything that will damage boards.

  1) During league play, players MUST turn OFF all mobile phones, pagers, etc. so as NOT to disrupt
play, and players may not leave the table except for serious emergencies.

  2) Only bare fingers allowed. No covering of any kind may be worn on the hand or finger.

  3) Waxes or lubricants may be applied to the board before, but not during a match.  If both players
agree that they do NOT want wax applied, that is fine, but if one player wants it waxed, it must be
waxed. Use of MinWax/Formby’s Citrus or Almond Lustre aerosol only.

  4) Players will be assigned seating by the captains.

  5) NO MOVING of the gameboard or game table is permitted.

  6) Players are NOT confined to their chairs. As long as the board and game table are NOT moved,
players may stand or shoot from whatever position they are comfortable, as long as they are not
physically touching their opponent or interfering with other matches.

  7) Players must NOT have their hands on the table while their opponent is shooting.

  8) Players must NOT place their pucks on the game top while their opponent is shooting.

  9) All “Twenties” scored MUST be displayed on the top of any rail. Failure to display your Twenties in
this manner will result in their NOT being counted at the end of the round.

10)  Pucks used are to be the “standard issue” Pichenotte Games plastic pucks.

11)  Game Pucks are NOT to be removed to the Ditch until they come to a complete STOP.

12)  If a puck flies off the board during play, it must be placed in the ditch.

13)  Once a puck is in the ditch, it may NOT be removed.

14) Home team must provide 1 extra gameboard, extra Pucks, a bubble level to ensure gameboards
are level, and a flashlight to solve close-to-the-line disputes.

RULES OF PLAY FOR TOURNAMENTS AND LEAGUES

R-1) Deciding who will shoot first:
Players decide who starts by flipping a coin, or choosing a puck hidden in the hand by one of the
players. The winner of the pick, or toss, can choose to go first or second.
In Singles, players will alternate who starts first after each Round. If you had the last shot in the
Round, you will have the first shot in the next Round.
In Doubles, the play is clockwise, as is the prodedure for who starts first.

R-2) Regulation Pichenotte Shot:
“Flick, or snap the Puck against the side of the Puck, NOT the top, using any finger alone or in
combination with the thumb.”  Players hands must NOT move forward during or after a shot,
and PUSHING a puck is NOT allowed, whether it is from the side, or from above.

R-3) Once a puck leaves your finger, a shot is judged to have taken place. NO “take-overs”.

R-4) Shooting Zone: Pucks must be placed flat, touching the outer baseline. A puck may exceed the
quadrant line, and be almost entirely in the adjacent quadrant, but only to the extent that it is still
touching the quadrant line in front of the player.

R-5) The outer line, called the baseline, or shooting line, is also the “out of bounds” line. An opponent’s
Puck must only be knocked as far as the baseline to be considered OUT, and removed to the
        Ditch.

R-6)  To be considered OUT, the BOTTOM of the Puck MUST be over or on the baseline.

R-7)  Both players must AGREE that a Puck is out before a player removes it to the Ditch.

R-8)  Failure to wait for agreement on this matter will result in forfeiture of the Round.

R-9)  If there is any doubt about a Puck being in or out, call both team captains to make a ruling.

R-10)   IF OPPONENT’S PUCKS ARE ON THE BOARD:
         As long as there ARE opponent’s pucks on the board, a player always has TWO CHOICES;
  A)   One of your pucks MUST make contact with your opponent’s puck in whatever combination this
happens. (You can hit any number of your own Pucks first)

OR
  B)    Clearly, verbally, state that you are “Going for a Twenty”.

R-10-1) IF YOU  DO “CALL A TWENTY”:

  A)   If you “Call a Twenty”, ANY one of your Pucks must land flat in the Center Hole..
~ If one of your Pucks does not land in the Center Hole, the Puck that was shot is removed to the
        Ditch.
~ If you “Call a Twenty” and do NOT score a Twenty, even though you may make CONTACT with an
opponent's Puck, your shooting Puck is removed to the Ditch, since you did NOT score a Twenty.

R-10-2)  IF YOU DO NOT “CALL A TWENTY” :

 A)  If  you do NOT Call a Twenty, it is assumed that you are trying to make CONTACT with an
opponent’s Puck, and CONTACT must occur in any combination between any of your Pucks, and
any opponent's Pucks. If there is NO Contact, the Puck you shot is removed to the ditch.
 B)  If you do NOT call a Twenty, and your Puck goes in the Center Hole without touching an opponent’s
Puck, the Puck is REMOVED from the Center Hole and placed in the DITCH for zero points..
 C)  After CONTACT is made, Twenties that result are counted whether for you or for your opponent.

R-11) IF OPPONENT’S PUCKS ARE NOT ON THE BOARD:

If there are NO opponent’s pucks on the board, this is called a “Free Shot”, or “Open Table”.
The player may shoot for the Center Hole, or leave his Puck ANYWHERE in bounds on the
    gameboard.

SCORING R-12)
The value of the circle inside the posts is 15.
            Next outer circle is 10.
            Exterior circle is 5.
Pucks in the Ditch count 0.

R-13)   Pucks touching the line of a dividing circle is counted at the lower value.

R-14)  At the end of each Round, players will fill in the win/loss box on their scorecard:
            (1) for a win, (0) for a loss, (.5) for a tie.

R-15)  At the end of the match with your opponent, you should both agree as to the score, and you
both are responsible for accurately reporting the score to the team captains, or the “official”
          tabulator for the evening.

R-16)  Game Pucks are NOT to be removed from the game board at the end of the round until
agreement is clear between both players as to the score and the winner for that round.

R-17) REBOUNDS/DAMAGE:
Pucks shot off the gametop may rebound back onto the playing surface. These Pucks are
considered OFF, and removed to the Ditch. If the rebounding Puck lands in the Twenty, it will
NOT count as Twenty, but will be removed to the Ditch. However, any “Damage” - good or bad -
they cause, will be allowed to stand.
If the rebounding Puck causes another Puck, of any color, to go into the Twenty Hole, this will
count as Twenty for whomever the Puck belongs to.

R-18) A puck that leans against a post and the board, will count 25 if it stays there at the end of the
         round.

R-19) A Puck that lands entirely on top of the post, such that it is NOT touching the board, will count as
30 points if it stays there at the end of the round.

R-20)  A puck that stands up vertically in the Twenty hole will NOT count as twenty, but fifteen Points. A
Puck like this may be shot off during play, but will count as 15 if there at the end of the round.

CAUTION: GAMEPIECES ARE A CHOKING HAZARD FOR YOUNG CHILDREN.
